Breaking Emoticon News

There is literally only one day left until the closure of this year’s Emoticon Awards ! So get voting toot sweet!

The next chat event down at WeEmote has been announced!

Emote Trivia Challenge - STARTS IN 30 MINUTES!
The chat event starts in 30 minutes! Come join the chatroom #WeEmote soon! :eager:
Hey there, everyone! Waluigi-Prower here, it's time for another monthly (technically, this one is 3 weeks, but that can be our little secret) #WeEmote chat event!
This event will take place on

Saturday, March 16th, 2013 @ 8 P.M. GMT / 4 P.M. EST / 1 P.M. PST

and it'll be all trivia, all the time! Since this is trivia only, I've made sure that there's more questions than in a usual chat event, so there's more chances for everyone.
Like usual, there will be points awarded per correct answer, along with bonuses awarded for the top three placers for the event as a whole. If you'd like to donate prizes for the 1st, 2nd, and / or 3rd place finishers, please note Waluigi-Prower, the group account, or leave a comment down there on this journal with whatever

Emoticon Articles

EmoteADay has continued their features!

March 11, 2013The featured emote for today is:

:monstercokemachine: by Hayabuza, submitted on August 28, 2010.
The machine is very nicely pixeled, along with the emote's animation and use of expression. The idea in itself is also pretty unique and well thought out. Just be sure to avoid this vending machine if you spot it!
:bulletblack: March 12, 2013The featured emote for today is:

Singing Emote by Keikuina, submitted on October 4, 2009.
Expression is always a very important part for any static emote, and this one pulls it off very well. The speaker system is also nicely pixeled, and ready to help that little guy jam with the rest of the band!
:bulletblack: March 13, 2013The featured emote for today is:

I want the ice tea by supperfrogg, submitted on June 18, 2010.
This piece shows a nice example of teamwork to obtain a very nice example of a pixel summer drink.

And mintyy and Krissi001 were interviewed by ArtHistoryProject!

Interview with emoticonist :devmintyy:!Customization month on ArtHistoryProject gave me the opportunity to interview amazing emoticonists here, on DeviantArt!
Today, I will present you mintyy, a well known emoticonst that has offered so much to DeviantArt!
:iconmintyy:
Hey there, mintyy! So, tell us a little about yourself. How did you find out about DeviantArt?
How I found DeviantArt? Hm. To be completely honest, it was so long ago I don't remember.

Oh, I see! So, let's talk about emotes. How did you start making these little creatures?
I started making emoticons after I found SparklyDest's Pumpkin contest. I entered it with a, to be honest, completely bad entry and no experience in pixel arts at all, yet it inspired me to make more pixelarts and therefore also emoticons.
As we can see on your profile, you have an amazing collection of pixel flowers with emotes. How did that idea spring in your head?
:bulletblack: Interview with emoticonist :devKrissi001:!March is the customization month here on ArtHistoryProject! This was my opportunity to interview with five great emoticonsts!
Last Saturday, we had a great conversation with mintyy.
Today, we interview Krissi001!
:iconKrissi001:
Hello, Krissi001! Tell us about yourself. How did you start making art?
Hi!  Well, my name is Kristina Pest, I am 23 years old and from Germany. I am really bad at writing things about me. D:
If you have any questions, you can either send me a note or can ask it on my ask.fm account
I think everybody likes to scribble things in their notebook or and papers. In Kindergarten one of my paintings was selected to get a frame and they put it on the wall, that was special for me.
My cousin showed me how to draw graffiti (on paper), it was something I did for a few years, then I decided to draw trad
